Circumstances: Good morning.
I am writing to you regarding a cat that my wife and I think is stray that we noticed in Sydenham Road / Hazel Grove (SE26 5HF) area on Thursday, 13th April in the evening. Cat followed me from Hazel Grove back to our flat on my way home after work.
On Friday, next day we took him to Mayow Veterinary Surgery (https://www.mayowvets.co.uk/) to do a chip check on him. The receptionist advised that he indeed has a chip but it is linked with veterinary clinic? / owner? in Maidstone and it is impossible to get in touch with the contact person on a chip. She put on a paper collar on the cat with surgery's phone number and a message to the owner to contact them to update the details on the chip and asked that we release the cat close to where we found him. She also advised that we should get back to them if we notice the cat in the area, still with the collar on in next few days.
We did as advised but unfortunately noticed cat meowing at our front door couple of hours after releasing him.
We let the cat in and he has been with us since.
Also, we did checks on social media (facebook, nextdoor) and found some messages referring to the same cat dating back to middle of March in which local residents were posting his photo and asking if anyone has lost the cat in the area. There were no positive responses to those posts or our attempts to reach out to the people posting originally with request for updates.
We also hung some posters on Friday, 14th April near where we found the cat and on the street where the cat was originally seen in the middle of March asking the owner to contact me on my mobile number. I received no phone calls since.
Based on the above we think the cat is indeed homeless and were hoping you could help with finding him a new home. He is really friendly and approachable and looks fairly young. We are not sure whether he has been neutered or not.
We would love to keep him but unfortunately can't as our tenancy agreement does not allow pets and we are both allergic to cats.
It would be great if you could get in touch with me by response to this message or alternatively by calling me on my mobile number 07851254870 to advise how the cat can find a new home.
Many thanks,
Michal Natora
