I was notified about Daisy at the weekend.
Unfortunately, her owner passed away and Daisy was locked in the house on her own.
There is more to this story which is very sad and revolves around an elderly couple living on their own with no help from family members. Concerned neighbors called the police when they didn’t see the elderly couple for some time. There was no answer at the door so the police forced the entry and found that the lady already passed and her husband was very weak and collapsing so he was taken to the hospital.
If it wasn’t for a caring neighbor who did a bit of an investigation about the cat, Daisy would probably pass away in that house.
When access to the house was finally allowed, the sad reality was revealed. There was no cat food, there was no human food in the fridge, the cat was using corners of the house and cardboard boxes as a litter tray.
Daisy is currently with one of our foster carers. She finds her feet in a new environment. She was obviously a pet cat, loved and cared for but we don’t know how long she was living trying to survive.
She is eating ravenously. She’s on a slim side, and had fleas. She wasn’t chipped and we don’t know if she is spayed. I hope she can relax a bit and once a bit more settled, I’ll take her for the full check-up.
In the meantime, here are photos of Daisy in her foster home.
